In this talk, I will be continuing David Harvey’s series of lectures at the most recent Arizona Winter School on counting points on hyperelliptic curves over finite fields. At the lecture series, all pointing counting algorithms discussed relied on a trace formula about point counts modulo p. The main result in my talk will be about giving a congruence for these point counts modulo a power of p.
